Cars are not always perfect. The things start to wear and tear if you don’t keep an eye on them. Tires are no exception. If you keep them on for a long period of time, they will start to wear out in a certain manner and from certain areas. That’s when you need to ‘rotate’ them. It means removing and moving them from one wheel to another and from left to right or back to front, or even in a crisscross pattern.

Tires will wear out depending on the alignment of the car and suspension setup. Each tire can wear unevenly. Also, the way front tires wear is different to tires mounted on rear axle. So if you rotate them regularly, it will even out the tire wear on all of them.

Since tires tend to wear unevenly, the front tire tends to wear on the outside edges because the tire leans over when you turn your vehicle. The rear tires just follow the fronts, so if there is no positive or negative camber at the read, they will usually wear more evenly. If you leave your front tires in place for a long period of time, their outside edges will wear down much faster than the rest, and you will need to replace them much sooner.
