Cars are not always perfect. The things start to wear and tear if you don’t keep an eye on them. Tires are no exception. Tires will wear out depending on the alignment of the car and suspension setup. Each tire can wear unevenly. Also, the way front tires wear is different to tires mounted on rear axle. So if you rotate them regularly, it will even out the tire wear on all of them.

Since tires tend to wear unevenly, the front tire tends to wear on the outside edges because the tire leans over when you turn your vehicle. The rear tires just follow the fronts, so if there is no positive or negative camber at the read, they will usually wear more evenly. If you leave your front tires in place for a long period of time, their outside edges will wear down much faster than the rest, and you will need to replace them much sooner.

There is no hard and fast rule when to rotate your tires. If you feel your car is getting skid-ish, try rotating your tires. Generally, get them rotated between 7000 to 10000 kilometers. So if you get a chance, like lifting your car on a lift in a workshop for some inspection or at a service station, it’s good to get ask the attendant to rotate the tire for you. Some auto manufacturers recommend that the tires be rotated on the same schedule as oil changes but that can become a hassle if you change your engine after every 3000 kilometer.

Rotating tires keeps them from wearing out unevenly. That will make your ride smoother and handling safer. And it extends the life of your tires, saving you time and money in the longer run.
