Everyone is excited for the new 2016 Honda Civic and are waiting for it to be launched here in Pakistan as well. The new car has already been launched in North American market. And it seems the new car has started to see some issues as well. Honda America asked its dealers to stop sales of the new 2.0-liter Civic last week. The stop-sale order was reportedly issued “due to potentially missing or misset piston pin snap rings that may cause engine stall or failure.

Around 34,000 cars are affected and one sold to a customer has already been recalled for the fix. Dealers with cars parked in their lots having the same engine can’t sell it until Honda fixes the issue.

Honda is available with a 1.5-liter turbocharged or a 2.0-liter naturally aspirated engine in North American market. There is no news whether Honda Atlas will launch the new car with the either of these engines or the current R18 motor. But it is an interesting fact that the issue has been spotted in the naturally aspirated engine and not the turbo engine. It was first feared that the new turbo motor will start to show its manufacturing defects as soon as it’s put to real life driving test in the hands of the customers.

The expected launch of the new 2016 Civic is in the September of this year. If Honda Atlas does decide to launch the car with the turbo engine, let’s hope the car can take a typical beating of our roadside mechanic. The current NA R18 has proved its strengths and is already well liked by the Honda customers in Pakistan. This 2.0-liter engine most probably will not be offered.
