Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution “Final Edition” Is The Last EVO There Will Be!

After more than 23 years, and ten generations of the Mitsubishi Evo, the time has come for every boy racers dream car to reside to the history books. Mitsubishi will finally be discontinuing its iconic road going rally car ‘Mitsubishi Lancer Evolution’. But its not going without a proper sendoff. Mitsubishi just revealed the last limited edition called the “Final Edition” before the car is eventually sent home.

Under the hood it comes equipped with a familiar 2.0 liter Turbocharged and intercooled MIVEC DOHC 16-valve inline 4-cylinder engine rated at 303 bhp @ 6500 rpm and 305 lb-ft of torque @ 4000 rpm. The suspension has been upgraded with Bilstein shocks and Eibach springs. Brembo two-piece ventilated brakes discs reside at the front, with the car riding on high-performance Yokohama Advan tires.

Cosmetic changes include a black aluminum roof, black interior with red accent stitching, and special badging. Only 1600 will ever be built making the car incredibly rare and each model will receive two numbered plaques, one just ahead of the shifter for the five-speed manual transmission and one on the decklid. The Final edition will come in 4 color choices: Pearl White, Rally Red, Mercury Gray and Octane Blue. The price of the limited edition will be $37,995.

It is quite tragic to see a car that a lot of us grew up with in our childhoods, spending hours and hours racing our own modded Evos in Need For Speed. Though there may be hope in the fact that there are rumors going around that Mitsubishi will replace the EVO with a new model that will feature a Hybrid drive train, and lets all hope that rumor turns out to be true very soon.
