My dear 4x4 brothers,
As some of you may know I sold my 1992 TLC 80 Series a few months back. Was a great rig and I enjoyed it to the max with not just IJC offroading, but also as a daily drive. However, feeding the 1FZ-FE on a daily basis VS the practicality card and after a lot of family pressure, I had to sell it.
I now own a 2003 Hilux Tiger (Thai model) and I must confess, I am thoroughly enjoying it. The practical aspect is one thing, the fuel economy as opposed to the thirsty 1FZ-FE...lets just say my eyes are no longer constantly fixated on the fuel gauge We ALL know how that feels! Now the Hilux is no Land Cruiser in terms of comfort, this is something I felt instantly when I sat in it on Day 1. The TLC seats and suspension are way easier on the lower back as compared to this wild horse. But there is something about the Tiger that takes me back to the feeling I had when I owned the TLC 60 Series...A rough n tough wild work horse! Practical as hell and good on fuel, maintenance and overall just easy to keep for a long time. Plus, my 3 dogs love the open air of the daalla
Other than that, this Hilux Tiger although originally a D4D with 1KD engine, was swapped with a 1KZ-Turbo by the previous owner for the reason of our super sulphur ridden diesel that kills the 1KD over time (unless you change the nozzles every 50,000 kms or so, for over Rs.80,000!)
So let the pix roll and I will explain details and upgrades planned along the way....enjoy!
