Unimog Punga Project

I have recently bought unimog 421, Long wheel base, 2.4L deisel, model 1984, an army auctioned vehicle. Restoration of this rig is already on and Inshaallah it will be on road with all its capabilities by the end of December. My Mog was in farely good condition in all aspects but still you know its auctioned vehicle so have to go through the massive operation. I will look forward to valuable suggestion from all IJC members pertaining to egine overhaul, suspension system (shocks), electric work, paint job etc. thx

dear i am back in action and so as the project.
it was realy hectic tour, with lots of travelling.

the good thing about africa is that its full of africans and the bad thing about africa is that its full of africans as well.

landed in Tanzania in Dar es Salam airport and travel to Arusha 10hrs drive but good sight seeing. Arusha is the hub of tourist as it is located near world famous safari parks and how can one ignore the beauty of mount killimenjero with snow covering the top.

in Arusha you will find lots of TLC's and landy's.

good place and good weather.

nice pictures and it seems you are keeping it mostly original. what size of tyres you got in this mog.

it seems you have installed servo brakes in it? right..

i think we should share our experiences on this machine.

dear nice talking to you on phone. note that we should need following things to incorporate in this machine.
1) 2 seats on back (design to accommodate offroading use)
2) 1 spare wheel
3) 2 jerry canes
4) a winch
5) extra lights.
6) roll bars and bull bar

we bought four mogs out of which we could only complete 3 .
two are at our sites and this one i keep as a toy .

yes added vacum assistance to brakes .
keeping it simple and orignal

buddy # 3,4,5 are easy to accomodate, i think i hav already did them n # 1,2,6 needs all the brains n the brain starts working wn i give it some shots of "oxygen" u know wat m talking about

will upload the pix of the sketches so u can comment n suggest for the changes
