Default G Class BLING Project

Inspired by DeeDee's Unimog Punga Project, I am exploring options to get into a project. My requirements is to have a vehicle with the following capabilities: -City Driving for Daily Use -Trail Driving for Offroad -Luggage Capacity for Weekend & Long Trips -Creature Comfort -Minimum 7 passenger capacity Following is my budget: -Project Vehicle acquisition: 200,000/- -Monthly available funding :
100,000/- x 3 Months
Total Budget available :
500,000/-
Project options that I am considering are: -MB G - Class 5 Door Diesel -LR Defender 110 5 Door Diesel I would request all the members to give advice and suggestions on the above options, and most importantly where I can source these vehicles for my Project. My preference is the MB G Class as it can be converted into a proper SUV with the G55 AMG looks.

G gLass is awsome project but I am afriad it will cost you Much higher than the 110. Parts would be difficult to find!
110 would be easy task!

Here's the link to 2 G-classes that were for sale on Pakwheel's only ....... The maroon on i think had a engine that wasn't perfect but you can easily source a Mercedes 300D unit for that within your budget! :

@storm will give you the best advice where Mercedes is concerned and where the defender is concerned as well!

@PuNk
Thanks for your input.

@dr3ad555
Thanks for the link. Unfortunately these vehicles are out of my range. My best option would be a non running vehicle which I can rebuild.

Please let me know if you guys come across a G Class within my budget. It may not necessarily be in its pristine running condition.

Regarding parts, where would one be able to source them?

@PuNk
Thanks for your input. I am unbiased towards LR 110 but my wife hates it http://assets.pakwheels.com/emoticons/1.gif

Why don't you save up for a month or two and than go negotiate with the seller's of these G-classes and getem for around 3 something or 4 cause they've been up for sale for quite some while atleast the maroon one has!

@dr3ad555
I guess I would have to look into this option, but first I would need to travel to Jehlum / Pindi to checkout these vehicles.

I believe in where there is a will there is a way. I feel somehow a project vehicle within my budget may just happen :-)

@aisheikh
Dear great initiative. Wish you best of luck.
as we were discussing this morning, G class was also my option for project but was over my budget, My suggestion to you Increase your acquisition budget and go for it. believe me there is one waiting for you but you have to be there at right time and at the place . dont worry about parts. what if you dont find parts in pakistan, we can always import them from dubai.

@dr3ad

No update yet. However I saw this old 1982 range rover in gulberg rotting and it is giving me some ideas.

The idea is based on a trip that I made with DeeDee at the junk yard in Thoker where I saw the body of a 1996 ranger rover without the frame.

Guyz,
I am also intrested to build a Benz G class SUV.
But feared regarding the spare parts.
Can some one help me regarding the same how much 300D engine costs.Can we alter the drive shafts of a G class with Japanese one
Is engine swap possible with atoyota Lc ,What about Diffs & gear?
Disc plates,body parts like fuel guages etc.Break boosters etc.
Please also guide me the Offroad capability of the said vehical.
One good thing regarinding Merc is its engine is highly reliable & long life.very very comfatrable & presentable as comapre to a Land rover 110 which is very bumpy.
The only fear I have is reg availability of spares

^^^^ i dont think this one deserve this price

the one being selling here on pakwheels , G class maroon color was sold somewhere near 3.5 lacs, now the new seller is demanding more than 5lac, and not able to sell it since last two months, so he will surely sell it on low price.

so whoever want to buy , should offer the seller, and wait for his response
