Default MOCK - Mutt Owners Club of Karachi

Own a MUTT - live in Karachi - then join in.
B-)

Register yourself along with some details of your jeep and if possible post a picture of it too.

Doesn't matter how it is & what it runs on, as long as it runs

Once we have a sizeable number of owners on the list, we shall all meet up.
Do remember to 'tick' the Alert me option at the bottom.

A rule applies & that is that you HAVE to own a variant of the G838 series, i.e. M151A2 / M151A2-M825

mod edit - moved to 4x4 clubs

Sam - thanks for your call.. it was pleasure talking to you.

Just for the other info...

These are roll *** hood bars... yes these are outfited and removable / adjustable and tied on the body with the brackets and bolts because i didn't want to weld these on body..

No seat is not original.. its a stock single fold able bench taken out from Toyota hiace.

Yet struggling to find stock rear bench.

Yup.... I have also bolted the brackets as well.. So that this does not leave any damage impression, even if you want to remove it totally.

Sam,

Not quite good, recently i hit a collapsable barrier while exiting the cantt area, i stopped the MP officer came up, and told me and the guy with me to pick it up and put it back, fair enough was my mistake, that bloody tire & carrier is a nuisance

, anyways he took us to his desk next to the MP post, he's like where did you get this jeep, blah blah, and so on...so i answered, after that he's like " why is it in jauji color?".....bloody hell what more do you want me to do..paint hearts on it.... well i replied that we are planning to change it, and he says that there is a 15 day notice and all that blabber, then the a Infantry Sergeant comes up and says "Hum se leh kar humain dekha tay ho" that pissed me off way over, but i was in no position to get into trouble with the army that moment, so i kept quiet, then the Mp officer is like, we will write you a ticket, and for the mistake you made, you have to get punishment for it, luckily the guy with me was an Army retired Sergeant, he had a little talk with both of them and all of a sudden they are like puppies. Anyways we closed the moment, and got into the jeep, all of a sudden a Kernel stops on the opposite side, and asks the MP officer "why is this jeep in military attire", avoiding another situation, i sped off.

Bloody hell, why is the Army so jealous of us civi's running these jeeps? i don't know...whats the matter i mean, we saved these jeeps, and represent them as retired Pak Army, and the Army itself wants us to turn them into a POS. Most of the soldiers who've driven this jeep have come upto me and admire the fact the its a fantastic vehicle. is it really the law or is it just plain jealousy? i really don't know. I mean i'm not going to invade india or kashmir just by having it painted green...

![endif]--

They were not that much strict earlier, but after Pindi’s incident they aren’t taking any risks. You were lucky to get out from there with your Mutt, avoid MPs till its green. I am also interested to know what is the actual role or law & which colors are banned for civilians?

Ok guys, here's the catch. The color green or keeping it the way it is as its used in the military is banned.

There's strict code for use of military vehicles and thus they do not want to create a confusion + panic if they see something similar beyond their control.

The recent incidents are even more scary, as it poses a risk for both the owner and the military itself.

I have been at it, getting the SRO from MinDef but so far all I hear is only verbal notification.

The problem is that we don't have anything in writing & cannot argue with them on an empty basis, they might turn around with something up their sleeves.

Suggestion is to stay away from Matte Green, Desert Tan and all sorts of Camo.

KZ, these are General tires, you'll find them at any tire shop in any city in the country. Excellent off road grip & I had them in my work-horse Wagoneer for years & till I sold it off. They wear off but then they are not expensive. I think the last I got them was at 8400 a piece 'panni pack' and they have better road grip than the NDCCs. With the kind of usuage on the Mutt they'll last long.

KZ, the tire size on the Wagoneer was 7.00 15LT. But i'm sure you'll get 16LT in this pattern.
The performance in both dry & wet sand is better than that of the NDCCs. That I can say for sure, as I have seen and used both in the terrain.

Have you asked 'Offroad' of his views on the tires on the Jeep MB ?

KZ,
I don't like the looks of it from the General Tyre website. The pattern is not there

But you can check out others at GENERAL TYRE AND RUBBER COMPANY OF PAKISTAN LIMITED

Hello KZ, I know it seems to be some feature of the beta version, but to me its a problem, hope they look into it.

As for the rig, it looks nice with all the markings, is it now all in one color or you found a cheap sticker resource
Yes i'd suggest to do away with the one under the fuel tank. The other thing, Why so many stars ?, are there any RED ones in them too. Red stars were of the Red Army, so that wont fit well on the Mutt

The other thing that I noticed was the rear gate, you have the weight (tire) on the side with the larger swing area (left), that can affect the durability of the latches and hinges the gate swings on.
The spare tire should have been closer to the point of rotation (right) so that the weight doesn't affect the gate & boy does the weight have an impact on these contraptions while offroading. One would need a high speed camera to capture that.

Oh, the above is entirely my opinion, the choice is yours.
