What's going to be left of the MUTT ? Wouldn't it be better to put the MUTT shell on a CJ5 & drive around.

@sarmadqureshi

You are right, not much will be left on the MUTT, except for its suspension mounts and cab :-)

The reason MUTT requirese extensive alteration is :

Original 1.6 Liter Engine is underpowered for mountain terrain with heavy load. So require a powerful diesel engine with turbo to haul load and breath in thin mountain air. Also diesel engine would be more supperior in mud bashing and water fording.

The original differentials on the MUTT have surpased their lives in all MUTT. Original diffs in prime condition are very rare or expense, plus these diffs have no locking for increased traction.

As I intend to use this vehicle for daily use and highway traveling, changes to the gearbox and breaking is enevitable.

@Toofanebatameezi

SUV=Sports Utility Vehicle. I intend to use this vehicle as a daily driver, weekend family picnic trips, offroading, long trips e.t.c.

Thank you all for your comments and appreciation. Please share your expereinces with MUTT's modification so that I may learn from you.

I am currently indecisive in which way to go for the engine.

My Toyota Diesel Engine options are:
  1. 2-C Turbo Non EFI/li
  2. 2-C Turbo With EFI/li
  3. 3-C Turbo Non EFI/li
  4. 3-C Turbo with EFI/li

So which one should I go for. What are the pros and cons of going EFI? How much extra would it cost for going EFI?

Please suggest and vote.

My friend, who in the earth told you that the stock hercules engine is a 1.6 ? The engine is a 2.4 litre 4 cyl engine giving you 70bhp @ 4000 rpms.
