remove the evaporator coil and condenser and measure them side by side to the corolla items, you will find yourself, the evaporator coil in your car is about twice the size of a corolla unit.
btw - when I did up my old Accord 1.6 A/C with R12 - it ran for more than a decade without problem - and I kid you not that you would get pneumonia in it - it was that damn cold - almost like a meat freezer.
anyway - finally you also see the light, once you do something correctly you see the result, my father used to say that anyone can do half a job - its the later half that actually sorts the boys from men.
To get the R12 cylinder to purge all the content I just leave it in the sun for a few minutes. It increases its internal pressure.
btw I remember that I was once repairing a Corolla 2001 A/C and had to replace the evaporator coil, TXV and drier, The owner of the car had a driver who was nice but nosy too - sometimes he would imply that I was doing wrong - so as Im working I purged the oil from the compressor and collected it - measured everything, made sure everything was clean and dry and as I added the total required quantity of oil little by little to different places - he also said that the compressor will explode - lol.
After the final charge with correct weight of refrigerant, I asked him to check for "explosive materials" lol
as he was a senior citizen I didnt argue much but told him in old fashioned way that if it bursts out, I will install everything brand new from my account.
