agree with ahmad. but GE and pratt & whitney engines are way more fuel efficient than RR.

Here's a wikipedia quote on Roll-Royce Trent 700 engine:

"In April 1989, Cathay Pacific became the first customer to specify an Airbus aircraft powered by Rolls-Royce engines when it ordered ten A330s powered by the Trent 700."

And the aircraft pictured is a Singapore Airlines Airbus A340.

Nashtrooper

Rolls Royce has been in the aircraft engine business since about 1915.

Some of the legendary engines made by RR have been the Kestrel, Griffin and the Merlin to name a few.

Most of these engines can trace their DNA back to the 'R' engine, the only engine ever to hold the fastest speed record at one time on land, sea and air. A feat never repeated by any other engine.

Google any of the names and you will find a treasure trove of knowledge on these fantastic engines.

First jet engine by RR, 1945 in Metour fighter for RAF.

Borrowed heavily from German jet and rocket engine technology captured by British forces after the end of World War 2
