@vickytulla bhai, we were (sort of) unlucky that we were not allowed to go ahead of Mahandri (where they had put a check-post to stop 'tourists' to go further towards Naran. The REAL situation on ground was that local vehicles were freely moving forward and were not being stopped.
It all happened due to the first early snow in Naran, which was projected in our media as a huge 'natural disaster' ... where live coverage was being shown as if people were stranded and were dying of cold, lack of food, or eaten alive by 'wild animals', and no government was seen to protect them or save them ... blah blah blah
So, the government reaction/response was sort of being 'over-protective' ... security officials posted there stated that they had lost their jawans in rescue work and they can not further risk lives of public (as well as security personnel) for further rescue work.
We did not persist our case for going ahead because ours was not an adventure trip ... it was just a last minute leisure trip, which turned out to be pleasant/relaxing, alhamdulillah
So, if you are planning for an adventure trip, go for it ... Make sure you are aware of on the ground situation and wherever possible, get 'local' input as well. I tried that through this thread but apart from @asifcae bhai's timely advice (on which we changed our plan), did not get much response. I tried updating this post as it was happening to inform my Pakwheels family
Good luck and all the best!
