    Default Honda CD175 Bobber Project

I was looking for a bobber project candidate on a famous peer to peer website and after a month of searching I ended up buying this. A 1977 Honda CD175. This motorcycle came with a seized engine and dismal body condition. As I was only interested in the Chassis/frame therefore fortunately the frame looks pretty solid and rust free. Just a teeny weeny rust patch just above the rear spring upper mounts.

The latter picture is the inspiration. I want to end up with something like this. A single seater bobbed up honda CD175 with an oversized/ mean engine.

As for now I'm in search for a good engine for this frame. I've been told that CB180 or XM180 engine can fit bolt bolt on this frame. However I want to go a little wild with this project and I was thinking to go for CBR250RR engine, one that revs to 19,000 RPM. Lets See what happens.

Kabari market ka ek asool hai. They don?t charge you on the basis of what the product is??? they determine the prices based on its scarcity. Asoolan 2JZ should have a bigger price tag than a CM250 hands down but market mein 2JZ buhat hain??.competition hai?tow prices kam hain??whereas Saleem Bhai ki monopoly hai. If he wants 35k for a CM250 you cant say ?Mein Kaheen aur say lay loonga?

I remember 2 years back I went to shershah when I had to swap my car?s engine. I got a Honda D15B 1500cc for 22k where as a third Gen Charade Engine 1000cc had a price tag of 40k, only because that was the only unit I was of a charade there. Jabke Honda engines ki koi kami nahi thi

CB250 wasnt available in the market. I found one CB200 though. Condition achi thi engine ki but saleem bhai said that its difficult to source spare for this Cb200 as he now has no more stock.

If I would have found the CB250 engine I would have definately went for it but Saleem bhai ki dukaan per nahi tha.....and as I was making a mess at his shop he dogded the bullet when I asked him if I can look for an engine at the Godown.

So unfortunately its not a CB250 werna 27BHP ki baat hee aur hoti. kYa sound hai engine ka!

    Is it in working condition?
How much repair does it require?
    Mind sharing the price?
239cc is written on the block.. then why its called 250?
    it punches 19Bhp right? great...

Displacement standards are classified as 100,125,150,200,250 i.e rounded offs-----As kawa ninja zx600 is thought to be a 600cc sports bike it is actually 633cc to be exact..cg 125 is 124.kuch,,junoon is 102.kuck and cd-100 is 97.kuch but they are categorized as 100cc mcycles

Nah bhai... iti b lut nai machi yaar??
    11cc difference can't be digested!
1,2,3cc tou samjh men ata hai.

    Like 69cc cd70
    97cc pridor
    124cc cg 125
    102cc junoon
    109cc sprinter as 110
    149cc gs150

In ur way I can write a cd70 as 100cc after rounding!
And 110cc is closer to 100cc so it should be called 100.
Its rule of rounding off that u round off just the last digit to the nearest 10 decimal point I.e. 97cc rounded to 100.
If I round off 239cc to 250?? It can't have a logic of rounding off.. but might be marketing March Masala.

This ride should have been named 240cc after rounding.

Apache rtr160 bhi tou hai? Rx135, rx115? Soo many examples.
There are numerous 175cc bike too.

There's no rule k bikes 25cc k difference sey he mention hongi.

And up to my little knowledge Kawasaki 633 and 600 are 2 different bikes.
    633 being heavy bike(super sports)
And 600 being simple sports bike..

Although m not sure, I used to study this stuff long ago... might b I'm recalling wrong ebt kawa.

    But sure debt 240cc bit

The engine is cranking just fine. I opened up the clutch cover and crankcase to inspect for any signs of damage, Fortunately the engine was in extremely good condition. I also inspected the cam gear, it too is in excellent condition. One of the selling point of these engines are that the cam gear is attached to a bearing instead of self lubricating bushes which have a tendency to wore and causes the cam gear and also the cam chain to wear and tear. However as its on bearing the malfunction probability is reduced exponentially.

There is no way to fire up the engine at the spot so normal practice is to keenly inspect whatever you can visually and then pray for the best. Usually these engines turn out just fine. Infact this particular engine had oil in it therefore I'm pretty sure I wont have to replace the piston rings.

Engine achi condition may hai. I'm not an expert ....maybe Junaid Akhter can better explain if what I did was right or if I missed anything.

As far the 239cc goes....Yamaha marketed this 239cc motorcycle to compete in the 250cc category. In strict marketing terms, Yamaha choose to target customers who buy or intend to buy a motorcycle in the 250cc category. They positioned the SR250 as an everyday commuter with best fuel comsumption figures in the 250cc class, and being a single cylinder engine means that Yamaha had a cost advantage over its competitors as many 250cc engines were twin cylinder.

Devilskreed is right.......manufacturers do round off engine displacement. My Unique UD 70 actually has a 78cc engine......its more powerful than most of the other bikes in its 70cc class making Unique UD70's power as its selling proposition. Its all about marketing dude. We marketeer know how to play with your mind!!! Hehehe

Some sources say the Sr250 dishes out 20bhp.....whereas some say its 19bhp.........I say......"KI FARQ PENDA HAI". Its gonna be neck breaking fast either way!

    Default Progress Update

    Thanks Hidalgo and Automotorsport_lover

Today I?m gonna be taking the Chassis and the Engine to the Great Babu Denter at Hussainabad, Karachi. I have been told that he the best in the business and guarantees that after the chassis is modified and repair , it will be 100% balanced and aligned. According to him: Bike lehar nahi maaray ge and will behave itself.

Went to his workshop yesterday, he told me that it?s not mandatory to use electric weld on the chassis. It depends on the severity of work required on a particular area of the chassis. What can be done with Gas welding is dealt with that way, whereas electric weld will be used as a last resort.

Babu Denter is highly recommended by my brother?s friends who got their crooked chassis (been in an accident) repaired by him. The repaired bike had excellent road manners.

Do anyone know any better Motorcycle Chassis specialist in Karachi?
