The guy's name is Usman and he does the pipe bending stuff. I came to know about him through Ali bhai/silentbiker that he has been making frames for panniers for bikers. I was looking to get made a luggage carrier for my GS so I decided to visit his shop, which is at Walton road, Lahore. A few minutes into talking when he mentioned that he had made a bike for himself using parts and engine from different machines while the chassis/frame and tank had been fabricated by himself. I got the appointment for the next day for getting made my luggage carrier and this is what I came across the following day.
I call it pure talent. The engine comes from an ATV so it has a reverse gear too, although not much use on the bike unless you attach a trolley to it. The bike has got awesome ground clearance and the suspension is so soft, it makes you want to run it hard on the bumps.
Fuel tank is a hard thing to work and fabricate, if you know what I mean and I really appreciated the amount of work that has gone onto it.
I have been watching on TV the craftsmanship of Orange County Choppers over the years, those guys have machines to work for them, computer softwares to design the bike and state of the art machinery to get it done, but this guy Usman did it all on his own, perhaps without even drawing anything on paper. Admirable!
A close look at the frame:
There is a lot of talent in our country, all being wasted because there are no opportunities, no fame, no appreciation. Believe you me, we have a lot of unsung heroes among us who live and die anonymous while idiots rule us because they have big pockets to buy our votes.
I am all praises for this DIY job:
PS: The carrier he made for me was awesome work. HAven;t got a pic of it right now. Will share it later
