    Default can 2 stroke bike engines convert in to 4 stroke ?

    salam
    i just want to ask u guys that if 2 stroke bike engines can be converted in to 4 stroke or if there is some kind of a kit which can convert the 2 stroke engine in to 4 stroke?

    the old yamaha yb 100 got a 2 stroke engine but , yamaha launches yd 100 2 years ago which is similar to yb100 and there r engines r almost same i wonder what canges they made in the engine to convert into 4 stroke

    any one know about bike enginges

    plz reply

    im not an expert on the engines...but i dont think that they can be converted to 4 strokes...perhaps imran bhai (imranbhatti) can shed light on the matter

    Nup its not possible. As far Yamaha 100cc bikes are concern these are available in Both 2 stroke & 4 Stroke engines here in pakistan & that 2 Stroke engine is almost the same engine as used in early models of Yamaha YB 100 while "Yamaha 4" & Junoon shares the 4 stroke engine.

    @imranbhatti
    what is the difference between 2 stroke and 4 stroke ?

    i got 2 two stoke motorcycles
    suzuki 100cc trail
    honda mb 100
    i was goin to start a experiment on them regarding to modifications

    can they both be moded?

    trade the whole bike with a 4 stroke engine bike is easy as above mentioned engine stroke change is like changing the whole engine working..
    .. i busted a piston on 2 stroke frm lack of oil in fuel but must say 2 stroke power was superb compared to 4 stroke same disp eng.

    do u have pics of yr trail bike?

    i played ard with sprockets to reduce top speed but added faster acceleration on trail then vice versa fr more topspeed was the only mods i knew.

    That would require breaking a lot of laws of physics.... and the internal combustion engine. You would **** off a lot of germans

    @typeracer:
    4 stroke combustion takes, as the name suggests, 4 strokes to burn fuel and hence produce power.

    a) First stroke is the INTAKE stroke, where fuel and air are taken in (the throttle body comes into play here)
    b) Second stroke is the COMPRESSION stroke, where the piston moves up, therefore compressing the fuel/air mixture.
    c) Third stroke is the COMBUSTION stroke, where the fuel/air mixture that is compressed gets ignited through the spark plug; this pushes the piston downwards.
    d) Fourth stroke is the EXHAUST stroke, where the sprocket on top of the cylinder opens up the outlet to the exhaust valve, and the ignited gas and air mixture (now completely gas) exits the cylinder.

    The 2 stroke cycle is mainly found in the Diesel engine, where there are only 2 strokes; the INTAKE and the EXHAUST. This is because in this particular type of engine, the fuel/air mixture is ignited through compression (that's just how the physics of this engine works) The fuel is vaporized inside the cylinder (if i still remember Sami bhai's *sami_voodo* lecture )

    Stroke 1:
    Intake cycle: fuel and air are taken in.
    Stroke 2:
    Piston moves up therefore causing the mixture to compress, and ignite. Since there are no springs or sprockets in this setup, the exhaust port is opened up as the piston moved downward.

    The strokes of an engine are Intake, Compression, Combustion and Exhaust.

    The difference between the 2 stroke and 4 stroke engine is that in a 2 stroke vehicle only two strokes are completed in one revolution of the cylinder while in case of 4 stroke engine all the four strokes are completed in one revolution of the engine.

    The result is that 4 strokes are better in fuel consumption because in case of 2 stroke of vehicle little amount of fuel remains unburnt and is thus wasted.

    In addition to that a 2 stroke vehicle usually needs a mixture of oil to be burnt with the fuel.

    I hope this is enough to tell you that a 2 stroke engine can't be changed into a 4 stroke one.

    Soon I shall post a tpoic here which will being clear to you the whole difference including the working of a jet engine. Stay tuned to the Bikes Forum.
