I don't see why you shouldn't be able to take care of your own car. And black is the most rewarding paint when its maintained even in the slightest but its a disaster if you don't take care of it.
You can buy a couple of things and spend the day with your car. I'll suggest the easiest solution. A cleaner wax. Its a wax that has polishing abilities, thus, whenever you wax the car, you also polish it thus removing oxidation and minor swirls.
Meguiars makes 2 of these. Either their cleaner wax (red and silver pot) or gold class (black and yellow pot). Both wax's come with their own applicator pads. All you need to do is get 1 or 2 microfiber cloths. Kenco has a packet of 6 mf cloths and meguiars has a packet of 3. So grab one of those.
Wash the car in the shade and dry it. Apply the wax in circular motion on each panel of the car until you have covered the whole car. Grab your mf cloth and start wiping the wax off from the first panel you waxed and move on. Remember, you need to apply the wax in the shade and apply it very thinly. You can find some videos on youtube how to wax a car.
Once you have waxed your car, in order to keep it looking good, you need to start washing the car the PROPER way. But that depends on how much energy you wanna spend cleaning the car.
Here is a look at how good a black car looks.
