Hi All,
I need ur suggestions in buying a Civic 97 VTi, completely genuine, silver color, 10,000 KM done only. The owner claims that the car has been parked for almost all the time since 97, even that the seats' plastic convers haven't been taken off, and the car is in a showroom condition. Can you guys put an estimated price for the car incase I go for it. It doesn't have CNG and has been run on petrol only. Thanks |

Well,
dear my idea is that you can go maximum for Rs. 550,000. Even if the car has done only 10,000 Kms but it is under the case of Long Storage vehicles. When you check the PM Schedule of Vehicles, it says 5000Kms or 3 Months whichever comes first. So even if the car meter was not run, you have to spend the cost for the Latest PM Cost based on the duration-wise. Even we strongly suggest our clients that the vehicle stored more than 3 months needs the Engine Oil replacement etc. Regards, Haris Azam DM; Service (North), Indus Motor Company.

Also keep in mind that prolonged parking of the car is also not advised. Rubbers stiffen, seals corrode etc etc.
10000 km in 12 years is like 900 km per year, which is 30 km per month which is 1 km per day.

If ur interetested to keep it for Long time then buy otherwise paying for 97 Model Civic is not wise thing. As if u pay high its difficult to recover unless some 97 Civic Lover come to u.
One thing in 97 Civic was declared as one of the best Cars of year in some countries so car is worth buying but within acceptable price because Depriceation cost is very important

Last year (2008) my brother's friend purchased Honda City 2000 just 700KM done from someone who went abroad. The car was parked at owner's home and to protect paint he put some oil on it. Friend bought it for Rs.700,000.
