So its been a long while since i did a DIY. A friend asked me to build a box for his JBL 1224 and i decided to do something that i have been wanting to do for a while.
We start with a standard sealed type box...
The box is for a JBL p1224 sub. the dimensions are 17"x17"x11.75" (external) made out of 0.75" mdf. A square has been cut out around a cm or so larger than the size of the plexi to be fit.
The baffle is cut according to mounting diameter of the sub.Tools of the tradethe sub test fitted in the box.Plexiglass temporarily mounted on the box. another sheet of mdf is added around the plexiglass. space is left all around it to incorporate carpeting Because this is such a powerful sub and because normal screws have a tendency to loose up after a while, T-nuts and bolts are used to mount the suba view from the inside of the box of the T-nuts. these will be further fixed by fiberglassing over it which will not only hold the T-nuts in place but will also (when used in corners and edges) seal the box and give it strengthAnother view of the T-nuts.To give the box strength and prevent air leaks, the corners and edges are fiberglassedCutting fibre mat to sizeapplying mat and resincovering all edges and cornersCovering the box with resin to protect it against the environmentsthe fiberglassing done inside has dried off completelty
Got the box carpeted. Honestly speaking... i dont like the quality of the carpeting.. might get it redone. depends on the friend...
Another view
plexiglass sheet fixed
also foamed the inside of the box
the whole box. next stop; LEDs
Because of lack of availability ofdecent terminal posts, this type of post is used. normal posts need to have a larde circle cut in the box which in turn tends to leak a little bit. drilling a small hole for passing wires and then sealing it with hot glue prevents that. The red button on top is the on off switch for the LEDs. both coils are wired to the terminal so as to east the connections (series or parallel)
DONE!
Aaaalla chez banai hai kia bt hai

Ausum Mash Allah
perfect. Nicely done .
the covering sheet on the box could have been better
A good quality carpet would look decent.
Friend ka name mention kar dete haha... @blacklist1 i am surely going to look for quality carpet for the box just like my previous dual sub box for 2 x S4's. But surely @madhouse12 has done an amazing job and I am definitely going to appreciate his efforts once i go and pick it up. waise facebook p Tareeefon k pull bandh diye hyn maddy bhai mera ek friend keh rha hy k mujhe bhi bnwa kar day haha.. I told him the offer is only for a very few selective people

Congrats tanzeel. will you be in peshawar on this weekend? meetup?
hey bro! been busy with stuff lately (car stuff mostly). I recently installed the sub in my car (a week ago) sounds yumm for sealed box. sound deadening still remains (wondering if go for jumbo. cuz sheets ka budget ni hy )
get lambo or stinger sheets. do it in steps but do it correctly. jumbo cant handle the vibrations from this sub
In trunk...
come on taz, i KNOW you can post a better picture than that
Looking Perfect ... and demo is still pending Tanzeel
Creative idea.....
Hahaha maddy bhai garmi hy shoot ni hota ub eid se pehle inshallah detail karun ga then ... Ungortunately the car got hit by a local wagon day before yesterday the bumper is in awful shape so i have to repair it before any kind of shoot.
Yara demo to apka rehta hy bhai ... I have to spend a few bucks on sound deadening and big3 so you'll have to wait for a demo vid. Do visit me sometime around though if possible.
