It was remarkable how quickly a car can no longer look like a car. The guys stripped the car in under half an hour. Mister Malik Saqib from next door at Boss Audio gets credit for assisting on the entire install. Now when your car is completely bare like this you start thinking about what a good opportunity it is to get various things that have been nagging you done. I think that is the purposes of places like this. If you have ever been in markets like this then you know what i am taliking about. There are all the various types of stores that you can need at a time like this when you have taken time out of your schedule to get one job done (system install) and you are within a few feet of several shops that could take care of little nagging issues. You want to take care of these little tasks but you never find them to be a big enough problem to take a day out of your schedule to get it done. Lights, security, power windows, etc. First off, I saw all the dirt, dust and accumulated detritus of the past decade and I called over the cleaning guy...and by that I mean I sat on my fat backside and asked sheryar bhai to find someone to clean the car. The professional that he is, he did not balk for a second or think it beneath him as the owner of the shop. He put me face-to-face with the guy who makes keys @!#? in that market. Apparently he has a detailing service as well and was constantly directing me to his Facebook page (he gave me his card and I was going to post it but my kids apparently rummaged through my pockets, in search of candy no doubt, and took it out and placed it somewhere. Regardless, if you are in that market he is the only key maker(elder fellow) and he also has a banner on the wall directly in front of sound valley and boss audio. He is the elder gentleman standing over the guy cleaning in the pic below) and showed me pictures of his work on a BMW 7 series and a mark x (on a horribly low resolutioned phone taken with an equivalent camera, no doubt) as testimony, but it pretty much wasn't necessary because he was the only dog in the fight, so to speak. I mean where am I going to find another mobile detailing guy sitting there in that tiny market on short notice? I figured I was only giving him an interior and engine cleaning job and it really wasn't something that needed to be done with precision because I was going to go over it again later myself with megs products and proper cleaning technique. So I said sure go ahead and i asked about the products he'll be using. He said they make their own. I think everybody on the "car care and detailing dreams" thread would gasp at this. I figured out right then and there to keep my expectations low and the result was pretty much commensurate with what I expected. In the young lads defense I will say he worked very, very hard and did so all day and worked around the other people working on the car with no complaint. The end result, however, was not as advertised, but again, I cannot stress enough that he did work all day and did get the car clean, very clean in the beginning, but it's only natural that he get tired as the day went on. So, because I had kept my expectations down to earth and I wasn't expecting something like @dynamicallystatic or @vague_one would deliver I was not upset. Basically he did the cleaning but he was too tired for the dressing portion. My only complaint might be that he insisted that surf is the best thing to be used for the cleaning of the plastic parts. I find surf dries it out but I had planned to do a cleaning session my self later so not worried.
Wow! This post got long and rambling and probably should have been posted separately in the detailing thread but I just wanted to point out that I had no less than 6 different types of workers working on various parts of the car at various times and @soundmaster took it all in stride and even facilitated and bargained on my behalf where he could even though they were stepping all overy each other as they were all working on the car(at one point 10 people were doing various things to the car. It was lIke watching a desi Nascar team). Some shop keepers would cop an attitude but he was very accommodating and helpful. I know how much of a handful I can be when I am trying to get things done. My workers even tell that they have learned to just get out of my way when I get like that.
