@farrukh
thanx a lot for appreciating brother, i love to share my experiences with other ppl and owners of this car.i hav even recommended this car to many ppl n they r all really happy for the value they get against wat they paid for.
as for ur problem, well, honda city idsi is certainly is a slower car then an average 1.3L car.the reason is its design of the engine.it has just 8 valves to let the air fuel mixture in and for exhaling the exhaust gases,normally,cars have 16 valves.the number of valves is decreased to improve the fuel economy.so, u ll have to live with it (even i hate this fact abt it,but as its a family sedan, its OK)
ur 2nd problem.it can be caused due to many reasons. can u write the service history of ur car? i mean, when was the last tuning done? what jobs were done on it? how much milage ur car has n tuning is done after what intervals? only then can i diagnose the problem. but i can roughly say that ur cars' throttle body is choked and needs cleaning.or the air filter is tooo dirty.cant say lot before i get to know the facts.
so let me know the facts n then i ll tell u.

no, the transmission in city vario (old shape,not the new shape one) is totally different transmission as compared to the prosmatec.
the vario, technically named CVT (continuously variable transmission) has infinite gears.it has a cone shaped cylider inside the transmission on which the belt goes up and down according to the speed of the car.so u never feel any gear changes, like in prosmatec. all u see is a constant rise in the RPM n constant acceleration.if u push the car hard, the RPM wud climb to 6000 in just the first gear range n wud stay there until u reach the top speed of the car, it wudnt fluctuate like it does in civic etc.
