Yesterday i got my Civic's Boot changed.I was surprised to hear price of Honda Civic Boot from Honda 3S. It was in Rs. 5980 (Honda Drive Inn) and includes rubber boot, clumps and grease. I called different Honda dealers in lahore, karachi and faislabad. Some of them said the price to be Rs. 600 (Honda shahra-e-Faisal) to Rs. 850 (Honda Motors Multan Road Lahore )but one dealer at Karachi said it to be round Rs. 7500 (Honda South). But all those who mentioned the price range above Rs. 5000 mentioned its unavailability in the stock. I was totally confused so i went to PLAZA bought an AXLE boot with Grease from Nasir Autos and went to my mehanic. He changed the boot but to my surprise he did not unscrew the AXLE and put it through the back side by unscrewing/dismounting the inner boot. He said that if we pull the AXLE with hammer it can damage it from inside. As the AXLE is not making any noise therefore we need not to pull it out. So he unclamped the inner boot and mounted the outer boot from back side.
I think it should not matter which boot you are buying as long as you keep checking it at regular intervals. A torn boot will soon loose the grease and cause problems. Happened to me. I guess a locally made boot will tear sooner than a genuine one. So just keep inspecting it regularly and you should have no problems.
So how much did you get this boot for? Nasir is known for over charging, but he's the only shop who has everything available.
Rs. 450 for boot and Rs.240 for joint grease .
