Default Civic's knee - experts help.

Dear Civic experts.

Is the inner axle of Civic CF model repairable? If yes, then can anyone name a really nice kharadiya in Lahore?

If not, then kindly suggest, how much would the inner axle of Honda Civic would cost?

I'm attaching the pic for your reference, its the one marked in the red rectangle.

Tell me about the problem ur facing..... then ill tell u whether it's repairable or not.

1. Car shudders during acceleration?
2. Bone cracking sound while turning?

Plus kharadia would charge Rs. 600 for the repair. Replacement with qabli would cost u Rs. 3500/- for the pair. Rs. 3000/- and Rs. 500/- labor charges. But 1st tell me whats the problem? 1 or 2

WOW panic - you're bang on!

Its the first problem - I face it when I try accelerating, and it goes away when the speed touches 50kmph.
It comes again when the car reaches 170kmph, but I'm not really bothered because that's an uncommonly faced situation.

Your suggestions please.

A fellow member has told u the price for new one that is 14k and i told u the price of qabli one that 3k, decision is urs what to do. Actually what happens over the time (mostly due to bumpy driving), these round boxes type things develop hairline scratches inside which result this shudder while accelerating

Now in case of new one, u can buy urself but in case of qabli one, u WILL HAVE to bring ur mechanic along with u who will thoroughly check the condition from outside and by feeling any stains inside through his fingers.

I replaced these a couple of months back and the same problem vanished. Although as u said this is not bothering that much but sometimes it become an embarrassing situation for u while somebody is sitting with u in the car

Thanks Panic.

So changing them is the only solution - no repair, right?

Yeah, it does bother me to tell you the truth, it kills the drive pleasure.

One last question - generally, a fault in one purza if not fixed in time, goes on destroying another purza. Is it the same case with the axle? I mean if I don't get it fixed rightaway, will it go on to break something else?

Replacement is the only solution

I kept driving like that for about 2 months cuz was short of finances and had many other things to at home instead of this. My mechanic already told me that it doesn't hurt if u keep driving like that. But offcourse, never elongate a problem unnecessarily

I would like to add another thing. This shudder problem is repairable only if its due to slightly bent axel rod (mild chances). But after opening it, ur mechanic would tell you where the real problem lies, axel rod or that box whatever. Do feel hairline scratches and stains urself when u open that, just for the experience

100% Agree with SER_GTR

Buy New ones. Repairing of these thing is not reliable.

@Panic - need your help again.

I changed the right inner axle, and the problem vanished...upto 99 percent. I still feel a light vibration which none 0f my friend feels, so I guess it may just be voices in my head.

Anyway, here's the new issue.

The left axle rod (the longer one) in CF - does it come in one standard size? Or are there any with a slight difference in length? Because I hear a light thud (tuk) at times when I slightly turn my steering back. And when recently I went for car wash, and the car was lifted, I felt as if the left inner axle is running not as much inside the gearbox as the right one is...i.e. it is a little short of the required length. Is it possible?
