    Default Indian Cars (Maruti Suzuki)

I am posting pictures of Indian car models (Maruti Suzuki)with approximate prices here.If anyone has any questions you can post them here.I apologise if this is a repost.

I have seen websites of Pak car makers and have found very few options for the customers to choose from.In India in the last few years we have got a lot of options to choose from.

This is the Maruti 800 what used to be known as the Suzuki Alto in Pakistan and is now known as the Mehran.

In India almost all models are available for less than 2,50,000 (2.5 lakhs)

This car is not Bharat Stage 3 complaint and will be discontinued in most major cities and will be completely discontinued by 2014.This was Maruti's 2nd or 3rd model in India.

Now I am posting what is known in India as the Maruti Omni. For most members it might be familiar as the Bolan van but this is without the curved roof.

Prices in the range of 2.5 lakhs.

It has 2 other variants 1)The Omni Ambulance and 2)Omni Cargo

It is not Euro 3 compliant and along with the 800(Mehran) will be discontinued in most metros by this year and completely stopped by 2014

    Indian Cars Maruti Suzuki -19859

Now I'll be posting what is called the Maruti Suzuki Versa
    Indian Cars Maruti Suzuki -19860

I think the Versa has been discontinued. The price is approximately between 5 to 7 lakhs for most variants.

Trivia- The brand ambassadors for the Versa during its relaunch were Amitabh Bachhan and his son Abhishek

Any of you have any questions or need any info send me a pm or post here

    Thanks.

    Default Maruti Alto

This is the Maruti Suzuki Alto.It has the same name in Pakistan and has replaced the 800 as the highest selling passanger car in India over the last few years.Starts at 2.7 lakhs on road and has variants going upto 3.5 lakhs.

    Now comes in an 800cc engine.Used to have 2 engine variants earlier.The 800cc and a 1080cc.

Yes.., Versa is phased out. Maruti tried to market Versa as a CAR but people see it as a VAN.

Now, The Maruti Eeco will replace the flop Versa model in the market. The car will be capable of carrying five to seven people.

The country's largest car maker, Maruti Suzuki today launched a multi-purpose vehicle, Eeco, at an introductory price between Rs 2.59 lakh (Rs 259,000) and Rs 2.89 lakh (Rs 289,000). (Add 15% for on road price) The vehicle has been conceived and designed in house by the Maruti Suzuki engineers specifically for the Indian markets.
"Maruti Suzuki engineers have specially developed the Eeco, its new powerful engine and a new transmission system to meet the diverse consumer aspirations that look for a vehicle that fit a large family and at the same time provides flexibility for dual use," Maruti Suzuki India MD and CEO Shinzo Nakanishi told reporters at the 10th Auto Expo in New Delhi
    .
The Eeco is powered by a 1200cc petrol engine, which is compliant with Bharat Stage IV emission norms.
The company said the Eeco represents the growing expertise of Maruti Suzuki engineers to develop vehicles in India which is also in line with parent Suzuki Motor Corporation's vision of turning India into a global hub for small car design.
The Eeco comes with a flexi design offering 7-seater and 5-seater options.
The company also said it will be unveiling a concept electric version of the Eeco, named Eco Charge, which has been developed by the Maruti Suzuki engineers.
The car would be showcased in the Commonwealth Games

Pls use currency converter online. My best choice is Yahoo.

And Number of Customers / Product Sold is playing vital part in pricing.

I personally feel Suzuki prices their cars in Pakistan lower than India.

Sorry people.I will put up some hatchbacks for you today .Some cars that have been in India for ages and a few that were launched in 2009.

Then I will go to the Sedans.

I want a Moderator's help to post an Index in my first post (Maruti 800) so that people find what they r looking for in a jiffy.

    @Wahab will do bro

@others -I feel cars in India are cheaper. They obviously feel cheaper as the Indian Rupee has a higher value but even then it still feels cheaper especially since there is so much competition here.Sadly in Pakistan I hardly see any competition.I expected Pakistan to have more carmakers and have more models but I am very delighted and also very disappointed.

Delighted because we in India have so many models to choose from + we got the Swift ages back

Disappointed because I hardly see any good hatchbacks in Pakistan. Its the Mehran Alto or the Cultus.Other than these I see the Hyundai Santro but it looks like a side player to me.Am I right?

The Hyundai Santro was a rage in India but has lost its sheen to newer hatchbacks from the Hyundai stable. Will post them in my Hyundai thread coming up soon

    Salaams brothers

Here is the Wagon R.Launched a long time ago(2001) it was initially critised for its boxy shape which resembled an Auto. Was re launched and a publicity blitzkrieg ensured that the car was finally accepted by the Indian consumer but it was never a roaring sucees though it was a bestseller in the Japanese market.

It is in the range of about Rs4.5 lakhs. In most of Europe it has been replaced by the Suzuki Splash(Maruti Suzuki Ritz in India as the name Splash was registered by another manufacturer)but both the models co exist in India.
