Question Toyota Hybrid Cars in Pakistan?

Recently someone told me that Toyota's Hybrid cars are available in Pakistan for something like 1.8 to 2 million rupees. Is it true? Earlier I had heard that Hybrid cars were something like at least 6 million. I have not seen myself any Hybrid on the road yet but their availability has been mentioned by more than one persons.. Any idea?

Yeah there are few Prius available.

Used Toyota Prius Cars in Pakistan | PakWheels

The fuel avg part is a bit tricky, most of them claim 35 km/l (82 MPG) but to me that looks like marketing gimmicky as it is even more than what Toyota Claims. The best we should expect with our fuel quality would be around 20-23km/l.

I personally got a chance to drive a Civic Hybrid 2006 the other day. It was 1340cc, the interior and the exterior were exactly what reborn is currently. It was automatic and the owner who imports these cars says it does 22km/litre (petrol and battery power combined). It runs on batteries till 60KM/HR but once you cross that it automatically switches to Petrol. The life of those batteries according to him was 500,000KM and surprisingly i couldnt find them when i opened the trunk so you get the total space for baggage. It was a 2006 model unregistered car, meter showed 22000KM and the asking price was PKR 18,90,000.

Yes i have also heard of the civic hybrid in Reborn shape. The question is, will its batteries be easily available here? Also how much the engine is different. As it sounds, this hybrid model sounds pretty economical but then why not many are seen on the road?

Same is the case with Toyota Prius. Will these cars be good enough in the long run?
Another question.. Is Prius a better choice or Honda's Hybrid and which one has spacious interior?

Prius is currently the highest selling car in Japan since 2009 when the latest generation prius was launched(it sells about 1.5 times the runner up car(honda fit ). Prius is the best hybrid currently available, but the cars available in pakistan are mostly old generation cars.Prius has a claimed mileage of 22 Km/l from 1.8L engine. Prius has sold a total of 2 million vehicles worldwide. In pakistan the car is not being sold much due to high initial cost and also the batteries replacement factor which will cost too much(in US it costs 2000 US dollars,in pakistan they are not available and anyone importing will cost much more). The saving in fuel will be offset by the cost of replacement(although the claimed battery life by toyota is 250,000 kms, it however lasts even more than that.)

most of us would have seen hybrid cars among us, the only point is that you consider its a normal car..They dont have unique colors, or bling bling stickers mentioning that its a hybird.. Civic "Reborn" shape can easily be judged if seen from the side and even if its going infornt of you. The rims of the hybrid civic are different. Its a complete filled rim like no spokes in it.. And at the back you would see just 1 exhaust tail pipe tip.. Pic is attached for reference.

That is the same car which I drove, the people who have imported these hybrid cars are just waiting for the time when cng's rate is substantially increased or it's closed for cars, the original batteries for civic hybrid cost nearly 500k while Chinese are also available for 150k

I have one of these and its really a very economical and very comfortable car, has all the toys u wont find including cruise control, auto, ICE controls on the steering wheel and electric seats the lot that one wouldnt find on a local civic. The drive is smooth not much engine noise just does lack tht power factor but being a 1.3 its same engine one finds in the city so not bad not gona win any drags in this or try!

If we do not cross 60 at all during city driving and not let the engine to start how the batteries are going to recharge?

in hybrid vehicles batteries are charged by the rotation of wheels fuel engine is used for charging primary battery which starts the engine for momentum and acceleration when needed.

As far as i know, there is an electric motor connected between the gear & engine. Its a slim but power electric motor & charger. Batteries are stored under the rear seats. Electric motor provides assistance to the gasoline engine at almost all speed but at lower speeds electric assistance is high with quick acceleration assistance reduces and gasoline is consumed. At high but constant speed, assistance increases, battery charges during deceleration.

I think its a great technology, but a country like Pakistan is not ready for such a tech. People here are still going nuts with EFIs. I am personally very uncomfortable with Li-ion batteries. Its hard getting a 12-cel laptop battery in Pakistan, i have to order it online everytime.

What about the fuel average of these cars? If we drive it on motorway at a speed of 120km/h how much would be the fuel average? Same as ordinary cars or better?

For within the city mileage mentioned above, if we keep the car under 57km/h it should run only on the batteries...means you are spending no fuel at all, right?
