What's a guild? Well, as most dictionaries and internet searches define it, a "guild" is an "association of persons of the same trade or pursuits formed to protect mutual interests and maintain standards." Another description put forward is "an association of men or women belonging to or engaged in the same industry, profession, interested in the same leisure, literary or other pursuit."
This word is being mentioned here to help introduce the CLASSIC CAR OWNERS GUILD (CCOG) formed by a group of like-minded people based in Lahore who very aptly fit into this broad description by being an "association of persons," interested "in the same leisure," having "mutual interests" and wanting to "maintain standards".
Formed in the summer of 2010, the CCOG has been participating in car shows and organising runs to promote, recognise and encourage the efforts of all those who want to keep old cars alive and running but also keeping in mind the need to differentiate between an old well looked after , cherished vehicle and a run-down old banger. This is mainly decided by how the vehicle looks and the pains the owner takes with it!
This thread is being launched to provide a platform for all PakWheelers to post comments, pictures, have discussions , seek and offer advice and generally promote the classic car scene in our country and particularly here in Lahore. Everyone is also encouraged to put up photographs of their classics along with any information on them. All other car clubs are very cordially invited to post their views here also.
information about all planned meets and runs will be posted here as and when dates are decided.
There is a CCOG Facebook page as well which is already very active. Here's the link : https://www.facebook.com/groups/CCCOG/.
