with all the talk about moggies I could not but help put up pics of my moggie... and progress on teh Z and the alfas...

The Moggie does need new tyres. The fornt one gave up the ghost on its first trip out in months.... but only after 20 miles and the car itself behave faultlessly. Not bad for a 61 year old. Anyone know of someone with 5.60-14s. Must be some in Karachi. There are none in Lahore. Pindiites can someone help... Romano???

The Z denting ... is almost complete...the left side has minor imperfections and need to be sorted but the painter has started work on the right side.... so there is hope yet.

The Alfa tourings engine water channels are being freed and the petrol lines sorted before the firing up. The 1750 has the rear axle dropped for inspection and I am having the drive shaft made.

@neurosurgeon, your new find looks like one I saw at a show over here in Sept. Here are some pics. There is another one here currently being restored. I'm having fun seeing all the old cars you guys manage to find over there, take care!

Thats one sleek, mean, evil machine!

I always refer to this shape as the 'Morven Gold' wali Merc. Old people like me might perhaps remember the Morven Gold advert which was often repeated on PTV

@ Mohsin bhai

Salams! Hope all is well with you. It was nice to meet you a few days ago.

I took the sandblasting gun to Harry uncle and we proceeded to experiment with it. We found some fine ‘bajri’……the yellow river sand used for construction here in Karachi. Ive seen different kinds of sands being used in Peshawar and Islamabad so some folks here may not be familiar with what Im referring to.

Anyway. The results were as expected, our air compressor could not keep up with giving an adequate pressure. We tried the blasting on a rusted panel but there was hardly any change in its appearance.

So we do need a big compressor .

We were thinking on the lines of going to some service station and ‘borrowing’ the compressed air line to run our gun for testing. Of course we would need a very cooperative station attendant and would have to pay if we run it for more than a few minutes.

Next, I went to seaview to collect some sand from the shore . We shall try that and report back. Maybe the finer particles would gain more speed to get us some results??

Wish us luck!

Asad

Go for three compressors in parallel (6) On a more serious note, if I'm not mistaken the sand that you're using is rather coarse isn't it? I'm note sure if using a finer sand or one with a sharper grain would help.

Oh and please use gloves and a mask when doing the sand blasting. Silicosis isn't fun, and so aren't sand particles embedded in your skin - or worse, no skin. I've had the displeasure of getting blasted by a comparable machine, a Karcher 100 Bar pressure washer, and it cut my thumb like someone had whipped it. The welt stayed for a week.

@ Sami

Great advice, taken well. Reminded me of the chest Xrays we used to see under the topic of Silicosis! Of course I shall abide by the simple guidelines you mentioned.

Best regards

Its a SLC, W107 chassis code. Looking at the HVAC controls in the center dash, i guess its an 70's, since 79 on the controls went to push button, and later SL's had auto air in the late 80's.

Great collection, the moggie is looking awsome, would love to see its full picture with split screen . I think you are looking for Tyre Size 5/20/14 for Moggie which are not available in Pindi as well. I am looking for them as well and would get an extra pair as soon as I get any!
