AOA Gentlemen,
I bought a Corolla Axio X 2007 from Pakwheels couple of days ago, the body condition is good and ODO reads 61,000km, it?s 2013 import and registered only 3 months ago.
But it has one major problem, my understanding is that CVT is supposed to be smooth unlike conventional auto tranny but this car when shifting from 1st gear to 2nd gear generates a grrr grrr noise for a second or so, engine also vibrates and engine feels like losing power. On slow and gentle acceleration its more noticeable and strong but if accelerated hard the noice and vibration is is bearly noticeable. After this there is no noise or any vibration and I?ve tested it upto 160kms and it runs smoothly.
I?ve got it checked and my mechanic says that the back mounting of engine is broken, and he suggests that we should clean the CVT oil filter and try changing the CVT oil to resolve the problem. I?ll definitely get the engine back mounting fixed along with cleaning of CVT oil filter but question is whether this will fix the problem.
I also got the car checked in Lahore by Adnan motor?s main person on Multan road (apparently he is the best tranny specialist in Lahore and costly too) and he is picturing a troubling picture. Scenario 1 , if forward clutch is weak or gone then it will cost 45k to fix it, Scenario 2, CVT is gone then it will cost between 95 to 125k in Lahore and total expense will be around 140k. Now that?s awful lot of money.
Could the experts here suggest any other good/reliable tranny specialists who I can consult ( in some other thread a guy in Model town was quoted but his where about are unknown). Also if someone has had the similar CVT issue please do share also with the solution.
I highly appreciate suggestions.
Muzzammil
