Helo PW , I just finished working on my07 Cultus VXR which has completed 1 lack Km , couple of things and experiences I want to share here in this post ,,,,,,,,,till now car haven?t show any major mechanical problem like oil consumption either from head or from block ,,,,,,,never been overheated and no sign of pressure leaking into the coolant ,,,,,,,any I started by replacing plugs , plug cables , distributer cap , rotor , timing belt , AC and water pump belt , gear oil , coolant , radiator cap and all water hoses including heater and steel pipe which is under the intake ,,,,,,,,,couple of more things which I have changes couple of months before were break oil , front and rear break pads ,,,,,,,,,,all these things which I have replaced are all factory stock fitted and they now its time to replace them ,,,,,,,,couple of more things which are always recommended to replace after 100K are water pump , timing belt tensioner , valve seals , engine seals , clutch , throw out bearing , break rubber lines , HT coil, ect ect ,,,,,,,,,,I haven?t replace them because they were ok and I always believe not to replace any thing with after market/fake/chinese copy with the original one incase if its working fine,,,,,,,,,,,but yes if you want to replace them with 100% original then I suggest you to go for It ,,,,,,,,,,,,,but its strangely recommended to replace all the able mention parts once your car odd meter cross 100Km ,,,,,,,,,,,,,,,
Couple of more things I want to say is that you may have seen in pic that I have replace the radiator steel pipe which is located under the intake ,,,,,,,first of all there is no need to pull the intake just to change that pipe,,,,,,,,,,I do that because I have after market pipe in my hand and I fail to install it , and for that I remove the intake and in the end its all goes in vain ,,,,,,,,,next day I see a leak and there was no option other than to fit an original pipe ,,,,,,I search it in 3S but fails but luckily find it in old parts store and it fits like a charm with out removing the intake ,,,,,,,,,I strongly recommend never to replace it with after market,,,,,,,,,,second thing,,,,,,,,,,don?t fully rely on the 0 Degree mark of timing belt cover ,,,,,,,,,,I double triple check it and found it is off for 2 degree , I guess its because of thermal stress on plastic , may be newer engines wont have that issues ,,,,,,,,,,,,third thing,,,,,,,,,,,,you may have seen how I add new gear oil,,,,,,,,,,,,,that?s some how a wrong way ,,,,,,,,,,the reason why I do that is because for last couple of weeks I have a constant swear back and shoulder pain and I cant able to physically push myself to the limits that?s why I look for some short cut,,,,,,,,but still I guess i react responsibly by first measuring each and every drop of previous gear oil ,,,,,,,,last thing ,,,,,,,,,about the thermostat valve and fan auto switch ,,,,,,,,,,I have discovered that this non efi VXR cultus is fitted with 82 DC thermostat and 93 DC auto fan switch ,,,,,,,,,,,there are many available in market (new or old) but shopkeepers don?t have any clue for it ,,,,,,so chose accordingly ,,,,,,,,,,,,,EFI cars and cars fitted with emission control device have higher healthy temp ,,,,,,,,,,,
