Allah be praised.
For a very long time, I'd been on the lookout for something...special. Something with that elusive "it" factor. Something with a bit of panache, and pizzazz. There had been much procrastination going on in my mind, over a 'final' rebuild. Something that would REALLY take things to the next level, before I announced my "retirement" from the rebuild game, altogether.
I believe that this may be the very thing I was looking for.
For many days, I'd been tracking down a vehicle with the help of some friends. This was an elusive 1974 Chevrolet Camaro...which had apparently "disappeared" from the motoring scene in Pakistan. Some years ago, it had belonged to a dear friend of mine, who'd sold it to someone, who'd sold it to someone else...and so on and so forth. Until a few days earlier, no one had any news about it.
The day before yesterday, though, another dear friend told me how this Camaro had "resurfaced" in Islamabad. His information was that it had been fitted with a 1UZ-FE, it had been painted black, had an interior that needed some work, and that the vehicle was generally in "good condition".
23rd March is when I finally managed to lay my hands on this beastling
This Camaro is a 1974 model 2nd Generation pony-car from the GM stable. It's gained some popularity over the years as the vehicle that became famous as "Bumblebee" in the Transformers movies (that was a 1976 model). It's quite rare in Pakistan, as they aren't very many of them that roam the roads here. This vehicle also marks the "end" of a couple of projects for me. The '64 Impala isn't going to be rebuilt any longer. Neither is the '56 Bel Air. All attention and focus, is going to centre on this baby!
This should be a very interesting build, InShaAllah. Hopefully, it will be chronicled properly on this page. To end this post...some pictures of the whip!
