Nice DIY. Only thing I'd do differently would be to take a hack saw and cut a slot in the 22mm ring spanner wide enough to allow the wire of the connector to pass rather than damage the grip.

On my car the acceleration had dropped considerably so I took the car to Honda Classic and they determined that the cat was chocked badly. They removed the cat, scraped the "rust" and blew it out with compressed air. Huge amounts of red smoke came out. They used a special sensor removal tool that did not require the grip to be cut.
This resulted in huge improvement in acelleration.
