I had to replace the rear brakes of my 2000 model year mercedes benz E320 because the pads were nearly metal and the discs were beyond service limit of 8.5mm.
Got me a set of Pagid pads and Brembo OE style discs.
and got to work.
you would require
Parts
1 brake pad set
2 brake discs
3 copper antisieze
4 silicone grease
5 blue threadlock
tools
1 floor jack
2 jackstands
3 metric tool set - you need a 16mm socket or spanner to remove the caliper from hub.
4 bleed bottle
5 screw clamp
6 torque ratchet
7 hammer - general 200 grm
8 hammer - big size at least 2 kg
Raise car - install jack stands, remove wheels, remove pads (use small hammer and nail to remove the hold pin and spring clip)
undo caliper bolts and remove caliper, rest on top.
peer into the wheel bolt holes and find automatic parking brake adjuster, release its tension, unscrew disc holding screw and then use the big hammer to beat the disc from the back from 3 separate places, it will pop loose.
clean area with brake cleaner, clean hub face with emery and apply copper antisieze to the face, screw the adjuster to reveal the threads and put some antisieze on them too.
push back the pistons with the clamp, undo the brake bleeder screw and attach the bleed kit.
reverse the steps to install - be sure to use blue threadlock on the caliper bolts.
after installing everything reset the parking brake, use the silicone grease on the pad corners and install the hold pin and spring clip.
rest car on ground, start engine and slowly pump pedal only 1/4 stroke 5 or 6 times to seat the pads onto the disc before you move lever from Park - otherwise you would have no brakes and cause serious damage as the pads would not be engaging the disc.
