suzuki bid for the cheapest paint - they got someone who was blending it at a "dupatta rang hatti" - and ordered a few hundred barrels of it.
In the USA - chrysler made a lot of cars in the late 90s in a strange purple colour - all their brands used that color, all plymouths, dodges, chryslers, eagle, etc etc had some car in that shade.
Its really cool.
After about 6 or 7 years you can actually change the colour of your car to primer gray, just take it a pressure washer to it and watch the paint lift away in sheets. If you wait another 4 years the primer also lifts and then you have a nice rust coloured car.
You cannot get more crazy than that.
the old fiat pandas etc had a strange painting system, they would load up the top of the car with 10 coats of paint to make it look glamorous but sort of forget to paint the hidden crevices - which then would rust out and you would have a shiny bodyshell with rusted out bodyframe.
