It'd be better to take the dimensions before buying an axle and get the exact length of it instead of cutting and welding, doesn't matters if its of the same engine or belongs to some else. Would like to share an example, a friend is running D15B 3 Stage Vtec in a Hyundai Excel with welded axles, car used to break them again n again, fixed the issue by sourcing out the exact length axles and they were of Mitsubishi Galant, LOL.
However, in your case I will ask my mechanic and will let you know, he is qualified enough to avoid Desi Jugars and all.
