Default Restoration Of Original/Specimen Spitfire.........
Salamz Pakwheel Brothers,
Another thread of restoring the original/specimen spitfire is here.As you know that we dismantled this spitfire to use it as specimen for the different panels we made for our project (blue) spitfire which is almost complete except electrical wiring and interior.
This car was thrown in the back garage for about 10 years and I could not spare time to restore it.But now I think I have time so started this restoration along with our previous project (blue) spitfire.
Body Shell is very solid and rust free...
Some attention is required for the floor pans of cockpit and boot but a lot of mechanical work including engine and suspension is required.I have already done the transmission myself with all new parts (sorry no pics) and it is out of the car already so is the drive shaft.
It will be Painted in Bright/tomato Red colour.INSHALLAH.
My share of enjoyment in these restorations is to be in contact with you brothers so I will try to capture every step like previous project and will share...

Bumpers are in very good scratchless condition so being handled very carefully not to scratch it...Thats why a bed sheet is there....

I bought new thrust bearing (this is the old one) and original clutch plate which will be fitted after getting the car repainted/restored.....

Partially dismantled engine still in place...
As you can see, twin SU carbs are removed for overhauling,radiator is removed and on the other side,distributor,starter,alternator etc etc are also removed....

This car was thrown away for ages and was serving cats as their maternity home so thought that It should also come on the road along with our project(blue)spit..

This spitfire is not going to take long because there is hardly any body work or any fabrication...So restoration will be straight forward.
Some mechanical work will be required which I will share with you brothers.

Gear box tunnel cover original..Made from a sort of compressed card board which is very fragile.
There is a layer of glass wool for sound and heat proofing from engine and transmission fixed at underside of the cover which is also in bad shape as you can see in the pic.....Have decided to repair the same original one with new undercoating of glass wool......

The main purpose of this restoration is not to make this car but to engage myself into some thing to divert my attention from the loss I suffered a month back..
