    Unhappy Civic 2012 starting problem

    Assalamualaikum everyone!

Alhamdulillah, I got my 2012 civic in silver last friday! But i noticed a small problem. Whenever i turn the key from the battery/on (whatever) mode to start the engine, NOTHING HAPPENS! i turn it again and then only the engine starts. I experimented with the problem several times by waiting a while and then turning the key or turning the key immediately. But the problem persists in every way. It has'nt even been driven over a 100 kms and it's making me worried. Is it a big problem? Can it be fixed easily?

    Help would be appreciated

your 2 mil worth Honda is under warranty as Owner you shall pay a visit to Honda dealership and ask to get it fixed under warranty. any tweek done on your own will VOID the warranty

    on other side

after 2 clicks there is an spring action which is IGNITION mode to start the engine only 2 click will activate all systems & next push will crank if not then its something to worry

Did Honda go oldschool again, If anyone has driven the old 3rd and 4th gen accords and even the old 3rd and 4th gen civics - they will remember that you were supposed to push the key inwards while turning to start, if you did not push the key only spun 98% of the way and did not make starter signal contact, only when the key was pushed inwards and twisted to start it would spin 100% and make the engine start. They even had a sticker on the column cover it that said "PUSH -->" with the arrow in the direction of start.

Probably some imobilizer/Coding issue with the key, Getting it check by the dealership would be the right choice. Do you see any (key) mark in the meter cluster, While it doesnt starts?
    Alinaseem and qwertypoiu like this.
Get over the fact that Xli lacks power windows, Its an Xli because it lacks thoose features or else it would be a Gli or an Altis if had all the goodies.

I don't think it's a problem related to the immobilizer. No, there's not any light, relating to the immobilizer, glowing. And yes, I might visit them in a few days. But just thought of sharing this with you guys!

Wasn't it the other way around? I mean before turning the key to off mode to pull it out we had to push it inwards and then backwards. There is still a <-- Push mark drawn there!

OP - take it to Honda, most probably the starter switch at the back of the ignition barrel has some fault, if it were the key the car would completely refuse to do anything.

The starting problem has nothing to do with P and N i guess. In P position the car is in N with wheels jammed.
