I've tested the sensors using the procedure presented in the service manual...The CKP sensor gave a varying value from 800-1100 ohms (against 350-700 range given in manual)...The CYP gave nothing. Didn't check the TDC sensor. Tested the CKP again, got nothing this time...Maybe my multimeter fault...Also, this was on a hot engine (does that matter?).
Will get it tested from someone with a decent multimeter. That will tell whether the sensors are out or if something with the wiring....
Also, I don't understand the manual says replace distributor housing if the sensors are out....Can't the sensors themselves be replaced or the entire housing needs to go just because of bad sensors ? How expensive would it be, anyone here have any idea for price of distributor or distributor housing for a 1996-2000 civic 1.6 vtec engine or equivalent...?
Also, I don't know which code it was, if it was P1381 or P1382.....only the mechanic does and he was not too good with communicating...
