Yar ve seen this problem in many balenos. I had a baleno and it also used to do this occassionally. Get the throttle body checked and Throttle position sensor as well. Might work for you.

Yar. M in Karachi and why you are not taking it to any suzuki dealership to get this done. They are expensive though but get the job done for you. Waisay frankly speaking, i always try to stay away from dealerships but when you have no other good choice, they are the only choice.

r u saying the check light comes and the RPM goes up? or its as it is.

jahan tak i noe in Baleno check light doesnt comes on if the TPS sensor needs cleaning. Its probably a bad calm shaft sensor (distributor sensor) as u said u had unstable RPM its probably means that either the sensors dead or theres some kind of short circuit.

If u have a after market cng installed usually CNG people give current to the advancer from the possitive wire of the Calm shaft sensor causing the short circuit resulting in failure of the calm shaft sensor and unstable RPM.

but its better u take it to a complete workshop who have a OBD device and scan ur cars computer to diagnose the actual issue.
Get over the fact that Xli lacks power windows, Its an Xli because it lacks thoose features or else it would be a Gli or an Altis if had all the goodies.

Same happened with me. I changed my batteries and the RPM sky rocketted afterwards. Went to Suzuki motors in ISB the "good for nothing" diagnostic tool told Throttle body sensor error (" there is not throttle body sensor"). Anyway got it cleaned it had some problems but problem persisted. After 2-3 weeks it dissapeared automatically.

    On Board Diagnostics.

Its basically a part which lets u connect u a computer or a diagnostic tool to ur computers ECU and reads of a code which caused the CHECK ENGINE light to turn on.this code is then looked in the reference book which explains what exactly went wrong in the car and where.... there are sensors in many part of the engine, like air intake, exhaust etc which are feeding data every fraction of second, if the data they feed doesnt match the standard setting the car is desgined to work on, the CHECK ENGINE light flashes.

here r sum pix of the thing... its attached to a port located sumwhere beneath ur steering consol or near it, under the dashboard.a computer with a special software is used to carry on the job, but a simpler OBD 2 scanner is also available.which is just a small calculator like device which tells u the error code.

here r sum pix that might help u under stand.the software on computer shows realtime stats about the engine.

The check engine light could be on because of just one error code that came in at some moment, and the light won't go away until that error code is cleared.
If you want to be very precise to find out what your problem is, then you can have the car scanned using an OBD II scanner tool... I would have no idea where you could find one. I have a hunch that the suzuki dealership would have one- they'll charge you I can bet, but that's up to you if you want to use this option. I hardly ever give a crap about what the scanner tool says because... for god's sake, I have the internet as a resource, and I've been able to diagnose every problem to ever hit my car with a simple google search.

Plan B (or A for me) is to do it the ghetto way and take off the negative terminal of the battery and leave it off for about a minute or so. Doing so would clear the error code that caused the CEL to be on in the first place (exactly the same way the clock goes back to 1200 after you disconnect the battery) Put it back on and start the car, see if the check engine light is still there. If it is, you know for certain that a sensor needs to be replaced- in all likelihood, it will be the throttle position sensor.

Here are some symptoms to a bad throttle position sensor:

I own a Baleno too, it happened to me as well. And the reason behind was that I used A/C for 30 mins, while my car was stable (parked). and the problem of CHECK ENGINE light got fixed when I drove my car for 100 km. And i faced this problem for 2 days.. Now it's going great!!!
