I am starting this thread because old bikes we see have different engine noise...Here is my story.....I bought my first bike on budget, yama4 2005 model, since i am university student ,i cannot afford new bike.and i also didn't wanted my parents to buy me a bike....About bike; it is in ok condition but had a rough life...but it had fresh piston and rings..i got it for 20k..i changed rear rim, tire and also changed front and rear set of spokes..Also installed cd70 carb for fuel efficiency..and allot of stuff done.. But problem was that it had engine noise like a tick for every cycle of engine...i referred to mechanics but they won't discuss its cause, and some will say crankshaft will be changed or rod will be changed and some only give me estimates e:g 2500 will be spent on it etc etc..I have fine experience with bikes..and i know how to work on them.so i did some research using Pakwheels forums and YouTube videos i opened my bikes engine..and i checked every thing..piston and rings were fine..i cleaned them up..head was fine ,valves were also not leaking..also cleaned head..And i checked piston pin..i took piston out..i noticed that piston pin was little bit lose in connecting rod..i could just feel it..may be about less then a mm play...piston pin was almost tight fit in piston.i also checked crankshaft...the rod had play from left to right not much but clearly noticeable..and while checking in-out play it had none..i tried allot but i couldn't feel it lose(in and out)..so i assembled engine back..and the noise is still there..I wanted to ask that is the crankshaft fine, does its left to right play matters....and is the noise due to piston pin..and i also made sure that piston isn't hitting anything..Any suggestions will be help-full..pictures are given below..
Update..took bike to yamaha service centre..there was (in-0ut) play in rod..got it done by kheradia...also changed piston pin...new clutch plates...bike running smooth now...Tip for guys ..u cannot judge play in crankshaft untill its fully opened...usually if tic tic sound in louder then u have to change whole rod or if its not that loud e;g u cant hear it while helmet on ....it can be done by kheradia...350 rs...
gud to see your problem got solved but I recommend you to never go to dyl service center they will asking you to change different part for no reason but cd 70 carb how's the bike perfroming with it? yama4 carb is also pretty efficient if you want more efficiency put a copper or double gasket on bike
CD-70 carb is working good.... the old one had a broblem...just couldent set the mixture right...with thin gaskit more compression so more effient bike is... it gives me 55 to litre(in good conditions)... n u r right about Dyl service centre
what avg your are getting from cd 70 carb
