hello guys,
Need some advice from you guys about my Corolla SE saloon 2005 auto vehicle. I bought it about 4 months ago and the engine was in 50/50 condition then. Since then the water in the radiator got reduced by about a glass after the daily trip (30-35km). The car took a longish self to start but then was fine afterwards. There were no issues with the pick or of the car heating. I got the car tuned about 2 months ago. had new spark plugs, throttle body cleaning and repair (according to the mechanic). Got the radiator cleaned and repaired. After the tuning, the start up time shortened and the average improved slightly (now 7-8km/l). For the last month or so, however, the car started to have long selfs again and required self 2 to 3 times before it started. Got it inspected by the same mechanic who did the tuning who said that the head gaskit was weak and needed replacement with an estimated cost of 15-20k. I just ignored it and continued to run the car as usual. However this morning the car did not start even after several selfs. Got a mechanic to inspect the car but it did not start even with his efforts. He said the problem is with the electric system of the car or with the fuel pump. I will go to him later in the afternoon today to have an electrician come over to check the car as well.
Now what do you think is the issue here ? Does this suggest a weak head gaskit ? As i said once the car start up, there are no issues afterwards with running or pick of the car. Please share your thoughts and advice about what should i do next ?
Many thanks,
