Japanese used car star ratings?

I have seen these ratings on all used japanese cars from 1 to 4, can anybody explain what these star ratings tell you because something is written in japanese, my vitz for example has 4 star sticker on the back window?





I think it related to car grade or may be fuel economy? not sure

i always wondered what the stars meant, i think alta once told me but i can't remember. the other sticker with the "%" on it is how tinted your windows are.

exactly , i put this question out of curiosity as i searched the whole forum, even googled for it, but wasn't able to find an answer.

i think its about the cars condition models, or so
just my guess
cause in 2006 i remeber my 2001 model car having 1 star & 2004-5 cars having 4 stars

hmm sticker at the rear screen of the car show the rating of an car that how environmental friendly it is....something like how much CO2 car emit etc but those rating are according to tht!

it shows the year of make or "Erstzulassung" of the particular car.


90er models had i think also figur 9 with it. but since 2000 its coming like a four stars with the year no. next to it. It aint has anything to do with the carbon emmisions my friend
