I remained affiliated with repair and maintenance of vehicles for over 20 years .. Any reputed organization has a set of rules for periodic maintenance and repairs ... like
-
You take a note of problems highlighted by user while receiving vehicle
My new corolla completed its 1000 km so i called toyota motors and reached there around noon for
FIRST FREE SERVICE
after a brief wait my car details were fed in system and a receipt given .. i was told to come back after 2-3 hrs ... during this form filling i pointed out three areas
- coolant level was low (between full and low)
- Battery terminals had that blue/green salt deposit
- Passenger seat one bolt was loose
After 3 hrs my car was delivered none of the above three problems were addressed .. time was around 330pm .. (note: half hr to closing) ... once i pointed out my problems, these were the replies
--- coolant reservoir level between full and half is perfectly normal
--- seat bolt needs replacement come back after Eid
--- one battery terminal has been cleaned (probably with some cloth and a grease was present though it looked old as it was milky color) other terminal has salt deposit underneath holding plate so cleaning with brush or hard material will damage terminals .. (meaning job is complete)
I insisted the staff to bring a 14mm spanner and when it came i asked the person there to tighten the seat bolt and woalla it worked .. no replacement required
I raised my level of complain after two tech persons i met their gm (as told) and finally after 10-15 minutes they agreed on cleaning battery terminals and car was taken back in and the job was done
These r the things which i found odd .... extremely surprising
-- battery electrolyte level low ... again between full and low
-- tire pressure low .. i later got it checked and filled air .. pressure was 20psi average
-- no water in wiper washer reservoir .. i filled it later
-- the cleaning cloth in my car was all wet and i dont use it on glass for that i have separate cloth in boot ... now all my windows are hazy at night
-- car was dripping with diesel .. i wish they know spraying diesel causes wear in boots and suspension rubber parts
- I think today all that toyota motors did was car wash that too with diesel spray ... I am being very decent to not quote any names or the exact 3s centre but its disappointing
- there was a car there which had paint splashes on one side (white car and white patches of paint) and staff there was trying to convince owner that its glue which fell from tree not paint .. then they all went into offices to meet gm
