Buying a Truck and Trailer is not the only part- You need links in the local ' Addas '.
A Truck Adda is where transporters and customers meet. Customer wants to transport his goods and the transporter..well it's self explanatory.
Now- There are a lot of frauds happening- They get Goods insured, remove 50%, burn the vehicle and claim insurance for 100% Goods.
In the Adda, you will meet middlemen. They have good reputation and will insure the Goods privately, some do it properly with the necessary documents etc.
For a newbie in a Truck Adda, it is kinda difficult to be trusted, get customers etc.
There will be many transporters, so remember- you might have to go down in price.
Once you do get a customer, someone will be driving the truck. Finding good and honest drivers are hard- They could give you a bill of like 5000.- per trip " Oh, tire puncture ho gaya tha, naya tuba dalwaya bla bla. " Some fall asleep and crash- Who will pay for repairs....You, being the owner. One day truck is out of order, you lose cash. Remember- Time = Money.
The best route is from Karachi to anywhere else. Say Karachi to Faisalabad- You will charge approx. 1.25-1.50 Lac for the route, but on the way back to Karachi- 50.000-80.000.- rupees. Why? Imported goods leave Karachi and export items go to Karachi.
Imported = Expensive
Exported = Cheap.
Usually, the return trip to Karachi is your profit.
Cost- Brand new truck + a good thick steel trailer = 1.50+ crore.
Best time to do a Truck business would be urrm when the Motorway, Karachi>Northern Punjab finishes. You can even drive it yourself then, if you get a FAW truck- It has Cruise Control!
A better job is supplying fuel to fuel stations- Diesel/Petrol. That is good business- Short trips= Less things can go wrong.
Good luck!
