Am planning to swap my stock FW DISC brakes with Ventilated ones (double plates (tawa as they call it).
Would it have any effect on the braking..
I think it should @ an efficiency of 10 ~ 20 %
pls post ur opinions.

I think ventilated disc have better cooling and scrape any stuff that sticks to the pads. Although in ventilated discs the pad wear off faster than normals. I don't think efficiency will increase on normal sedans, it's more of a good thing for high performance cars.

oh wait i confused ventilated brakes with drilled brakes![]()

vent. discs dissipate heat better then normal discs. BUT firstly composition/properties of materials used should be taken into account, coz in reality it the material that'd determine how much heat it'd absorb/dissipate and secondly the quality of material matters
i'd suggest go for it.
@ Shani
Ventilated discs or drilled/cross drilled brakes both have the same function of keeping the brakes cool.
however simple ventilated disc has a channels (groves) of air between 2 discs (better than single disc).
But my question still remains would it have a better braking capability of around 10 ~ 20 percent.
coz am sure that only 10% increase in braking would mean a lot in a situation.
wat say ????

also means pads wearing out earlier,, keep a watch on pads too, if you read my disc brake post .. pros and cons of vented/drilled/slotted.

i'd say go for it...they are better

By fitting discs which are the same exact size (diameter) as your current ones you will not gain any braking efficiency but your cars brakes will become more resistant to brake fade due to improved cooling.
If you want better brakig you'll have to change the composition of your pads and/or discs. alternatively you can fit larger diameter discs and have the calipers moved which will give the brakes more leverage, but since the contact patch will be the same as before the brakes will not be 100% efficient.
For ideal braking you should try to get brakes from a higher model of your car.
