I wanted to buy a car and me and mom went to Hockey Stadium, Faisalabad to search for my favorite car, the Suzuki Swift.
Luckily, we found a showroom owner who knew us for more than 25 years, I even studied in his school, 14 years back.
He had a 2010 Model, Lahore # standing, only 48,000km on odo.
I fell in love with the car, took a test drive and I loved it, obviously after upgrading from a Santro
He demanded 9.50 for it and we did a Kacha Pakka deal. Next day, I asked my uncle and he gave me the phone # of a very close childhood friend of his, who has a Rent - A - Car business and knows his stuff re. cars.
I called him and we picked him and his mate up, went to the showroom again and the owner wasn't there. Only his partner and one worker who cleans the cars etc.
Strangely, everyone recognized him, since his job is cars, cars and cars 24/7, so he has a fair bit of contacts.
Now, they both started checking the car like they were searching for drugs- Under the carpet, boot, under the car, shoving finger inside the exhaust and sniffing, checking for any smoke or blow etc.
Then they went ahead and started checking the paint- The cleaner who works there told my uncle's friend in his ear-
' It's all re-painted, cheap paint used and accident to the front '.
Uncle's friend explained to me and mom in the car and told us to stay far away from it. He said that they used a cheap paint and it would crack within a year due to the quality of workmanship and paint.
He said that the engine was in a fit condition, if you really really wanted it, max offer should be 8.50.
Owner never agreed and was adamant that it had genuine paint- LOL. I still have the pictures with me.
That's how far friend ship goes. Was invited to his brothers wedding, never went. Idiot.
Btw- It was lady driven and inside DHA

Next car-
A Hyundai Santro GV 2005 blue colour.
We told a furniture showroom owner to keep a look out for a Santro, preferably a GV.
He asked around and after 2 days called us.
We went there, waited for about 30 minutes or so and 2 young men came- They were office workers and 1 of them owned it and wanted to sell it off. They told us that it had all original paint, original engine bla bla and demanded 6.50 for a 90,000km driven car.
Okay.... I wanted the car desperately, I kept on bugging mom to buy it ASAP. She asked me to call uncle's friend again, his office is 100 meters from where we were, so he reached within a minute, with his friend again.
They went haywire on the car and told us in front of the boys- 4.50 at the spot. Deal or no Deal. 5 parts repainted and weak suspension. The boys got pissed and told us that they bought it expensive, the first owner said it had genuine paint bla bla.
Uncle's friend explained to them in simple terms, in Punjabi ' Puttar, say you bought a steel glass for 10-/ rupees, which has a market value of 5-/, it will sell for 3 or 4 -/, not 8-/. ' They went home and we were still looking for a car.
Finally just got a Brand new Swift. Oh, I forgot to mention, I was getting a '92 Mehran for 1.50 from my local mechanic, it was ' re-conditioned '.
So, Mehran>Swift>Santro.
