Ok, so that means no left turn right... but do you really think it is possible? this is a main intersection, connecting G-10 - F-10, in Islamabad...

in isb there at almost all signals u can take left turn on red light, magar few years back they placed these sign boards at critical and more traffic signals so that those ppl whose signal is green pass un-interrupted ........

where this sign is missing, u can take left turn on red-light in isb .

It simply means, "no left turning". There's nothing complicated about it.

As far as the reason for this being there is concerned, either its there by mistake, or, the exit to the left, which leads to the intersecting road is behind the camera and left turning is only allowed through that exit.

as well as i know it means that u cant take a left turn whether the signal is red, yellow or green it doesnt matter!

Ok fine... but in traffic code book there is nothing like that... you are right about the turning restriction on red signal... but for that this board need to have another sign under it... which says something like this "no left turn allowed on red light"
correct me if i am wrong

Yes to my understanding ... this means no left turn at all. by the way there is no other link to the road crossing ahead... on left side there is a house.

app bilkul sahi keh rahay hain, there should be something like that which tells abt the signal's colour status,

magar ..... as its out great pakistan, great management and things in very capable hands so thats a seperate issue.

i asked once a similar question to a traffic sargent on duty then he said keh take the number of IG traffic and call him and inquire ur complaint/query .... then before calling to IG, i said keh plz take off ur uniform and start doing something else , better leave the job if on duty u can't do anything ..... phir u can think keh " phaadaa " hee hona tha, so its useless, i am happy atleast i resisted wheather it worked out or not.
anyways,

i thought ur topic is like guessing the signals rather than judging them right or wrong

Thank you for the reply. it is almost the same case here... i asked you people about this sign because to my knowledge this sign means no turning on left allowed, but i have been driving on this road for the past 6-8 months everyday and even in presence of a policeman cars do turn left all the time.... i am sure this sign was put up long ago along with the "no turning on red ligh" sign. but since long ago the traffic signal operates turn wise (only one side at a time). they have taken off the "red light sign" but left the main board.

last saturday i was challaned for this (my second challan in past 14 years of driving in pakistan, the first one was something like 5 years back... on amber light issue one really cant argue with policeman on that as we dont have traffic cameras). back on saturday issue: i was stopped, the policeman said "hand over the license because you have broken the law "
i told him no i have not. he asked me to walk back and see what does the board says... which i did (just hoping that i dont see a "red light sing", which was obviously not there). i told him that sign says no turning on left but traffic does everyday. He said no it means more… and you should obey it… (gave me a lecture… meaning that he know more than me)… I told him that he and his gang is just minting money to achieve their monthly target. i have told him that i will pay the challan fee but will bring up this issue with ITP.

but my point is that where does that sign says that i am not allowed to turn left on red, yellow, green, blue, brown ....

i agree it wont tell u the colour of signal, magar if u ask old isb residents, they will acknowledge the same which i mentioned above, its kinda " understood " thingy in isb ....... lame , magar thats the fact .......
