Hi,
I wanted some information regarding the import of a car under the gift scheme. Basically my brother wants to send a mercedes C Class 1.8 under the gift scheme from the UK. Ive gone through the CBR website & other resources & this is what ive understood about the duty on a gifted car. The duty on an 1800cc car is fixed at $21,000 minus any depreciation cost which would come to 50%. Therefore i would have to pay $10,500 plus custom clearance agents fee & the shipping cost. Is this right or is the duty applied under the gift scheme on an 1800cc car differently. Any one with experience / knowledge of this please let me know your views. Also please let me know is getting the car cleared from customs a big problem under the gift scheme or not. Thanks |

i dont think so it should be a big pakistan ,
Well you mention about custom clearence agents fee ,,,if you wiill pay them some then you should make deal with them, They will able to negotiate with custom duty officers. Generally ,,,Huge amount of customer duty is rip off from CBR & govt, |

only three years old cars are eligible to be imported
cars can be imported under two schemes 1. Special Regime 2. Normal Regime Normal Regime applies to import of new cars and those used cars which are not covered in Special Regime and i guess these are 1.8L plus cars Under Special Regime, the taxes are levied on the basis of engine capacity, irrespective of the value of the vehicle and the optional or additional accessories -Upto 800 CC (Asian makes only) =US$ 4,000 -Upto 800 CC (Other than Asian makes)=US$ 6,000 -From 801 CC to 1000 CC=US$ 5,000 -From 1001 CC to 1300 CC=US$ 10,000 -From 1301 CC to 1500 CC=US$ 14,000 -From 1501 CC to 1600 CC=US$ 17,000 -From 1601 CC to 1800 CC excluding jeeps (Asian makes only)=US$ 21,000 |

and the amount of taxes are reduced on account of depreciation in value of the vehicle at the rate of 2% for each completed month subject to a maximum of 50%.
Each completed month for depreciation is calculated from the date of first registration of the vehicle abroad to the date of entry into Pakistan. |

one more things guys - - because of such hype in the exchange rate the importing under any scheme wont be feasible. . Dollar @ 84 AED at 23. .
just for example if you plan to import honda civic 2007 reborn from dubai its cost is around 60,000 AED @ 23=1,380,000. . rest duty other taxes etc ab aap khudi hee sooch lain rest goto http://www.cbr.gov.pk/tpef/customs/vehiclesimport/ImportofVehicles.pdf for more details. |
