It has become a common practise nowadays for car sellers(not amongst pakwheelers I am sure) to rewind the meters to fetch a good price for their car. It is highly unethical and cheating to a great extent.
I had a personal experience in this regard which I want to share.
I was looking for a clean and low milaged Honda City Model 2005-6. I searched various showrooms in the vicinity of Khalid Bin Waleed road. I come across a car which was of my taste, though the price was a bit high, but I made the deal and paid him the token after scrutunizing the original file.
Final payment to be made next day after mechanic's approval. Mechanic rejected the car after thorough inspection saying the meter is tampered as it was showing only 30000 km. I asked how can you be so sure of that the meter is rewinded. He says he determined by looking at 3 things. The pedals, original seat covers and steering wheel. When I confronted with the showroom owner he conceded that meter is tampered but not by him by the owner, however he returned my token.
I advised all friends to take special care before buying a used car, by accompanying trusted mechanic to the showroom or to the private sellers.
