hi
its a good swap project - but please make sure you are going for a 100% complete one, The shopping list you need is
1 - engine of correct RHS orientation
2 - trans
3 - full and 100% uncut engine wiring to ECU, TCU and body connectors.
4 - ac compressor that comes with the new engine you have.
5 - axles set
6 - correct ECU
7 - correct TCU - if automatic
8 - hand made fuel lines in the engine room - mitsu use an O ring flange instead of threaded connections and the pipes will be short/long depending on what engine you get.
9 - exhaust work.
10 - hand hammered mountings on the lower and timing end. The trans mount is easy.
11 - AC lines or welded AC lines
12 - hand made power steering pressure line.
13 - radiator pipes - the lower one is very tricky with automatic gearbox as the sump is on the side of it.
The touch panel screen for climate control wiring crosses inbetween the engine wiring harness, If you have a manual select autoshifter then you also needs its specific TCU and you will also need to make the wiring harness yourself unless you buy a wiring/TCU/ECU/engine set that has all that already. The air bag wiring also crosses between the engine wiring harness - but its not hard to sort out.
You will need to dismantle the lower half of the dashboard and remove all the beauty console covers from the middle part to access the wiring loom trunks.
Mitsubishi are modular build cars hence I find them easy.
if you are going for a 6 cylinder swap you will also need to change the rpm driver in the gauge cluster. Ensure all other bits n bobs like the exhaust bypass in the rear muffler is connected up to manifold vacuum etc etc.
If you find an AWD engine assembly in scrap then try your best to find it sitting on its entire subframe (chhaabri in scrap speak), It will be aluminium and will have a 90% chance of having everything intact and not broken. You will not be able to use the AWD gearbox as its right axle shaft drives the center diff. You will need to use your old unit - if automatic then use the torque converter from your old one.
For good balance find a bog standard 4G63 SOHC engine in RHS configuration.
Let me warn you.
If you are going to do this by using just your wallet and some mechanics working then STOP RIGHT NOW. Its not a simple task and its parts are quite oddball and rare in Pakistan.
