the orange layer is the foam which I mentioned and the glue that is applied on it is finely sprayed on very evenly (it is not glooped over samad bond) - but this foam has disintegrated and is breaking off thats why its no longer holding the fabric.
Normal case of old MB in hot climates - repair is not very expensive - I asked a "car upholstery shop" near my house and he asked USD 300/- if I take out the roof shell from my car. - Not bad. (correct and new fabric)
I can do it for 100 less myself - but takes time.
I see that the technicians are only removing the fabric and are not removing the fiberglass shell - How do they expect their fabric + foam sandwich to work?
I really hope that the seats and carpets have plastic liners on them because this orange foam is a real pain to clean - it becomes dust and will clog the carpets and what not and whatever residual glue is there will cause this dust to ball up or stick to surfaces.
btw - what heat insulation are they offering?
