100% agreed. My car was stolen in 2004 on eid day. Due to eid very low number of police was present in police stations and naka bandi was not possible. To cut the story short, motorway police by chance, recovered the vehicle from bhera en-route to rawalpindi. We personally interviewed the locked up carrier and thief in police station. He said "I only need 20 seconds to unlock and start a mehran/khyber/charade and 40 seconds for corolla/civic". He also told that mehran and corolla are our favorite cars.
Most importantly he said "Hum sirf woh gaari chori kertay hain jo asaani se khul jayay aur start ho jayay, jis gaari main ziada lock lagay hotay hain hum woh chor daitay hain kionkeh uss mai time ziada lagta hai aur malik kay wapis anay ka khatra hota hai". He also told that when someone parks a car in commercial area, one of our men follows the car owner into the market and other starts working on the vehicle. If by any mean the car owner returns instantly, our man who was following him gives us caution and we just disappear.
So to keep ur vehicle safe:
1- Install security system
2- Install a chor switch
3- always turn ur car steering to lock position
4- use crook locks (steering locks)
5- if it is mehran or older models of corolla, use the most effective "Chana da tala" china lock in the steering rod.
6- When u park in a commercial area, keep an eye on vehicle, otherwise if it parked at a distance, return back after 05-10 seconds from a distance where ur car is out of ur sight.
As regards to Ayat-al-Kursi, make it as ur routine to recite once u start ur car and once u switch ur car off.
