keys are something that is a security aspect of the car, In old cars the key was metal and just slid some levers to release the cylinder to twist, The owner could do anything they wanted.
The new keys are a bit more involved and may cause great grief, That is why I always tell people of two options if they want to get such a key.
1 - dealership
2 - licensed and authorised key-maker (these are non existant in Pakistan).
These newer keys can be duplicated and need to be tracked for legal reasons. Hence the authorised key maker part, just like if you take your bank locker key to a locksmith he will probably refuse to make it for you because of the giant danda that he will have to face later on if anything goes haywire.
Sure you can get a key for less than Rs 500/- for a baleno (I know where to get it - but I never did that for anyone - there are too many legalities with that - and I dont want to deal with stories of stolen cars after I made the key.
Hence - two paramount importance items goes to legality in owning a car - thats why you dont compromise on brakes, you hit a person - you get into legal trouble, similarly - the other is ownership - which also includes the KEY.
